Serge Hascoet, chief creative officer at Ubisoft, has briefly touched on the subject of a new Prince of Persia and Splinter Cell, stating that it's currently 'fighting for resources' in regards to the future of both franchises.
Speaking with Game Informer, Hascoet was asked if there's anything he wanted to say about long-formant Ubisoft properties. Prince of Persia and Splinter Cell both fall into this category, having not appeared since 2010 and 2013, respectively.
So, what's going on with them? Not much by the sound of it, but Hascoet did at least offer the following statement:
'I love Splinter Cell. I love Prince of Persia. I can't disclose any information at this time, but I can say we are fighting for resources. It's not a question of will, it's a question of means,' he said.
Splinter Cell was hotly tipped to make an appearance at Ubisoft's E3 presser this year, although obviously that failed to happen. Fans were thrown a bone earlier this year in Ghost Recon Wildlands, when protagonist Sam Fisher turned up for a special cameo appearance.
We were pretty big fans of Splinter Cell: Blacklist, so hopefully Fisher won't keep us waiting too long.
