Microsoft has announced that stealthy duo Splinter Cell: Blacklist and Splinter Cell: Double Agent have infiltrated Xbox One's backwards compatibility lineup.

If you own a physical copy of either game then you can now slide them into your Xbox One start snapping necks. You can also pick up Double Agent on the Xbox Store for £8.99, although for some reason Blacklist is currently MIA.

Double Agent is a curious beast in the sense that there's two versions knocking around. We have the PS3, PC, and Xbox 360 version that includes a custom game engine, which was developed by Ubisoft Shanghai in 2006.

The other version was made by Ubisoft Montreal and released for GameCube, PS2, and Xbox, adhering more closely to Sam Fisher's earlier exploits in terms of core gameplay. While it shared some basic elements with its bigger brother, the storyline, characters, and levels were unique to this version of Double Agent.

Meanwhile, Blacklist arrived in 2013 and was a pretty controversial addition to the series, as it replaced voice actor Michael Ironside with newcomer Eric Johnson in the role of Fisher. That didn't stop it from being a pretty solid outing all the same, though.

Hopefully Ubisoft will revisit Splinter Cell at some point, as we were pretty miffed that a new game wasn't announced at E3 last month.
