Jordan Henderson has just been unveiled as the athlete who will stand alongside Lionel Messi on the cover of FIFA 16. Unsurprisingly, when fans discovered that the Liverpool captain had beaten the likes of Sergio Aguero and Thibaut Courtois in the fan poll, their reactions weren’t great.
They ranged from the funny:
@EASPORTSFIFA @JHenderson looks like im ordering my copy from Mexico
— jai (@bIindinho) July 10, 2015
@EASPORTSFIFA @JHenderson Is he chasing his first touch on the cover?

To the angry:
@EASPORTSFIFA @JHenderson I bet Messi doesn’t even know who he is, should of been Aguero!
— TheBlueAspect (@TheBlueAspect) July 10, 2015
@EASPORTSFIFA @JHenderson off to pre-order PES, bye

To the inexplicable conspiracy theorist:
@EASPORTSFIFA @JHenderson Liverpool fans well known for controlling online votes through mass organisation. Will there be an alternative?

There were of course many claiming they won’t be buying the game as a result of this news, which is more than likely nonsense. And the many who decided to include more than a few swears in their responses, some offering their opinions on Henderson’s skills as a player, but few summarised him in more than four words.
FIFA 16 launches on September 25 on PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
