Level-5, the developer behind the Dark Cloud series, could be resuming development on the previously Xbox only MMORPG True Fantasy Online. The game was cancelled in June 2004, with no clear reason for the cancellation being made. Huge US gaming site IGN has published news regarding an interview in the Japanese gaming magazine Dorimaga with the Level-5 president Hakihiro Hino.

The president is said to have claimed that the game could well be resurrected, but this time to be released on the PlayStation 2 and PC. No mention of the Xbox was made, which could point to a complete platform switch. The game had gathered quite an online following, with many Xbox owners eagerly anticipating the console’s first MMORPG. If the game is to be moved to the PlayStation 2, there will surely be some pretty unhappy Xbox owners, but with a much larger user base, the PlayStation 2 will give the game a greater chance of success.

With rumours floating around the internet, a statement clarifying the situation can’t be far away.
