A little trash talk here and there never hurt anyone, and in a competitive FPS like XDefiant, it’s almost unavoidable. However, since the game doesn’t currently have a lobby voice chat feature, toxicity has largely been kept to a minimum (mild displays of teabagging aside). But that will all change soon, as an XDefiant dev has revealed that the team is working on lobby voice chat so you can assert even more dominance over the enemy team after a win (or defend your squad if you’re on the receiving end).

That’s according to a recent Twitter/X post from Mark Rubin, executive producer for XDefiant. In response to a player’s question, Rubin said it’s “very likely” you’ll be able to voice chat with the enemy team in the future—they’re “just not sure when [it will arrive] at the moment.” “It’s on the list,” he continued, so you can rest assured that the game’s development team is working on bringing it into every match you jump into.

It is worth remembering, though, that since the XDefiant Season 1 release date brings a ton of new features with it (including Ranked mode), lobby voice chat might not currently be high on the team’s to-do list. So, for now, you’ll have to stick with teabagging or emptying mags on a player you just killed because it may be a while before you can frustrate your opponents with your sultry vocals.
