Respawn co-founder Vince Zampella is yet to make a decision on the studio’s next game, despite its first title Titanfall beating expectations, reports Eurogamer.

“Don’t know [what’s next] yet!” explained Zampella. “No decisions have been made. That’ll be next week!”

He added: “The Titanfall universe is rich for exploration. I definitely wouldn’t discount it.”

Last month EA boss Andrew Wilson confirmed a new publishing agreement between EA and Respawn which would “bring new Titanfall experiences to players worldwide”. A Titanfall sequel wasn’t explicitly stated, but we all know the implication of Wilson’s comment.

Speaking to Eurogamer at E3, Wilson remained secretive over what the future holds for EA and Respawn.

“We have nothing to announce at this particular point in time,” Wilson said.

“We have announced that we have extended our relationship with Respawn. I’m very happy about that. Vince and the team there are amazing. We look forward to doing stuff with them for a long time to come. But right now we’re focused on the current Titanfall property.”

Regarding the success of the first Titanfall title, Wilson said sales have beaten EA’s high expectations.

For now Respawn is focussed on updating Titanfall to ensure players remain engaged, but this will only continue whilst the resources are justified.

“It depends somewhat on how well the game does. If there are people there supporting it you can justify putting people and resources on it.

“If there’s not that many people, or the engagement goes down, there’s a point where those resources are better spent on whatever our next game would be and making that game better. I hope it lasts a really long time and we can do more stuff.”
