The in development sequel to THQ and 4A Games’ Metro 2033 has been officially titled Metro: Last Light.

We’d heard about a possible name change last month when the domain registration for lastlight.com and metrolastlight.com were uncovered, but THQ’s overnight earnings call made things official.

Metro 2033 arrived on Xbox 360 and PC in March 2010 to generally positive reviews. It’s currently not clear on which platforms Last Light will be released.

The second game was expected to be based on Russian novelist Dmitry Glukhovsky’s Metro 2034, an indirect follow-up to his best-selling Metro 2033, but the new title could indicate a different approach for the sequel.
