Activision and Sledgehammer Games have released some trailers focused on the characters that’ll feature in Call of Duty: World War II. The campaign is aiming to be an emotional, yet bleak affair, telling the story of Private Ronald ‘Red’ Daniels, a young recruit in the U.S. Army, who experiences combat for the first time on D-Day. There are also videos introducing the British and European characters joining the fight.

These short clips introduce us to the other soldiers in his squad who’ll be joining him along the way. COD: WWII is certainly going for the feels with these short videos, attempting to provide some exposition on the men before at least one of them inevitably dies.

The last two trailers introduce the British Major Arthur Crowley who executes covert missions as part of the Special Operations Executive, and the highly skilled Rousseau, a member of the French Resistance, who’s taking the fight to the Nazis. Perhaps we’ll find out her first name in the game seeing as it’s lacking here.

I had previously said that I hoped that the game would go for a tone similar to that of Band of Brothers, or Saving Private Ryan, and it looks like that’s exactly what the developer is aiming for. Whether it succeeds in this regard is something we’ll find out when the game’s released.

Call of Duty: World War II is due for release on November 3 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
