Nintendo and cereal maker Kellogg’s have announced a partnership that will see a box of Super Mario themed cereal hit supermarket shelves in the US, the companies have announced.
As described on the Nintendo website, the Super Mario Cereal is a ‘mixed berry cereal’ with marshmallows that appear to be in the shape of classic Mario power-ups the red and green mushrooms and the yellow question mark blocks.
Most interestingly, the box touts that it has Amiibo functionality, meaning that when the box is scanned by a Nintendo Switch console, it’ll unlock bonus hearts and coins in the plucky (former) plumber’s latest outing Super Mario Odyssey.
Sadly, there doesn’t seem to be any plans to bring the cereal to UK shores at this time, at least according to a tweet sent out from the Kellogg’s UK Twitter account. It’s a massive shame since I’m still reeling from the announcement that they’re going to stop making Ricicles from January.
The Super Mario Cereal should be on store shelves from December 11 for US folk.
