NVIDIA and CD Projekt have announced that they are working together to prepare the upcoming action-role-playing game – The Witcher, for optimal play on NVIDIA graphics cards.

The Witcher is to be yet another game to be part of “The Way It’s Meant to Be Played” program, created by NVIDIA to show that their graphics cards will give you the best gaming performance. Whether or not they will, is another matter, but both parties seem happy with the agreement.

Darryl Still, head of developer relations EMEA at NVIDIA comments “The Witcher is certainly an RPG with a difference! Through using a very strong and reliable game engine, CD PROJEKT have been able to focus closely on the immersive gameplay and compelling storyline. We were thrilled when they chose NVIDIA as their development platform, and we think that the end result not only looks great, but is sure to provide a thoroughly enjoyable and rock solid experience for the gamers.”

Michaó Kiciñski, leader of the game’s production team, comments: “The Witcher’s world is incredibly beautiful and realistic. This wouldn’t have been possible without the talent of our graphical team coupled with the ultra-modern technology supplied by NVIDIA. I think we managed to create a world that the gamers will not want to part with.”

As part of the program, the game will undergo extensive testing to ensure that the game will play without hassle on a wide range of NVIDIA GPUs, ranging from the new GeForce 6800 series, back to the GeForce 3.

The team and CD Projekt have used the Bioware Aurora Engine to create a beautiful game world, enhancing the engine further to take advantage of the latest technologies: real-time deflections, visually spectacular weather effects, and more. The game is also said to be the first RPG to use a physics engine, implementing Criterion’s Karma physics, most well known from its use in the Unreal series.

We will have more on the game as it becomes available.
