The Witcher 2 for Xbox 360 will miss its planned late 2011 launch, instead making its console debut in Q1 2012, developer CD Projekt has told VG247.

“The extra time will allow us to polish the title to perfection, so that the game offers an ideally balanced, fantastic experience to gamers,” said studio boss Adam Kicinski. “As the launch of the game approaches, we will be sharing more details how it will be released on Xbox 360. I trust that despite the release date shift, players will be satisfied with what we are planning for them.”

Earlier this year CD Projekt revealed a shock publishing deal with THQ for the Xbox 360 version of The Witcher 2, despite an agreement with Namco Bandai for the PC version. Not happy with the way things have gone down, Namco Bandai has filed a lawsuit against CD Projekt.

CD Projekt also said at gamescom later this month it will release a video of “major DLC” which will form an “unannounced update” for the PC version.
