The Witcher developer CD Projekt Red has denied rumours that console versions of The Witcher 2 have been canned.

Rumours started when Namco Bandai announced it had secured the distribution rights for the game, but mentioned only the PC version.

“There are some rumours about us cancelling the console versions,” tweeted CD Projekt. “That’s just wrong, guys!”

“CDPR always wanted, and still plan to develop The Witcher 2 on consoles – nothing has changed. Stay tuned for more info in close future!”

An additional post, this time on Facebook, added: “We want and plan to release the game on consoles and nothing has changed in this matter. We’re still sure, that Geralt and company has something to offer both – PC and console players.”

The Witcher 2 was announced earlier this year, though its release isn’t scheduled until 2011.
