The Uncharted movie has a new director, Travis Knight, who will be filling in the post left behind by Dan Tratchenberg (via Deadline).

Knight is known for his work at Laika, the stop-motion animation company that made Coraline, ParaNorman, and The Boxtrolls. He was the producer and lead animator on those movies, and Knight has directed Kubo and the Two Strings in 2016 and Bumblebee in 2018.

The adaptation has had a shaky time of it all. Directors including Shawn Levy, Seth Gordon, Neil Burger, David O Russell, and Dan Trachtenberg have departed the project, and screenwriters and actors have entered and exited at various points

Despite this, Sony hasn’t budged the movie’s release date, which is admirable optimism. That’s still set for December 18, 2020.
