The Uncharted movie adaptation has hit yet another stumbling block, with director Shawn Levy leaving the project to work on a video game-inspired movie called Free Guy.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Spider-Man actor Tom Holland is still set to play the younger Nathan Drake in the film, although Sony is now obviously once again hunting for a new director.

It's a pity too, as Levy previously said that he had received some positive feedback from developer Naughty Dog on his vision for the film.

The Uncharted film has been in development hell for nearly a decade now. Numerous directors and scriptwriters have been attached to the project, including David O. Russell, Joe Carnahan, and Seth Gordon.

With no director on board, there's going to be some wait before Nate finally makes the running jump to the big screen.

Still, there's always Nathan Fillion's brilliant fan film in the meantime, eh?
