The Pokémon Company has pledged its support to Ukraine in the wake of the country’s ongoing conflict with Russia.
The company placed its focus on the children & families effected by recent events. “The growing crisis in Ukraine and Eastern Europe, which continues to cause the displacement of families and threaten the safety of children, is heartbreaking.”
“The Pokémon Company International is making an immediate donation of $200,000 USD to our partners at GlobalGiving to provide humanitarian relief. The nonprofit will efficiently direct the funds to community-led organisations supporting families and children affected by the crisis”. The statement closed by pointing fans to GlobalGiving.org to find out more.
They join a long line of publishers and developers who’ve pledged their support in recent days. This War of Mine developers 11 bit studios have donated all profits of the game from the past week. Subsequently, they’ve also extended their pledge beyond the initially-intended seven day window. Ubisoft has also donated €200,000 to the Ukrainian Red Cross and are providing support to their studios who are effected. The Embracer Group, parent company of THQ Nordic, has also pledged to donate one million USD of humanitarian aid.
The Pokémon Company’s message also comes just days after the reveal of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, which will both arrive on Nintendo Switch later in 2022.
