Developer Bloober Team has revealed some of the additional unique features coming to the PlayStation 5 version of survival horror The Medium.

A big portion of these new additions will take advantage of the unique features of the console’s DualSense controller. These include use of the Adaptive Triggers, which will allow finer control of Marianne’s Spirit Blast power. The longer you charge it up, the less kickback you’ll feel on the trigger.  Haptic Feedback will let you feel attacks and let you feel Marianne’s heart pulsating as you hold your breath hiding from The Maw.

You’ll also be able to use the controller’s Touch Pad and motion controls as you investigate items to find spirit echoes. You can also use the motion controls to move where Marianne’s looking at in the first-person investigation sequences. Finally, the game will also use the DualSense’s light bar to match her flashlight while the speakers will let you hear noises from whatever tool you’re using in the world too.

The Medium originally launched for Xbox Series X|S and PC back in January of this year. Josh said of the game in his review “Bloober Team has summoned a rich atmosphere, under all that writing, and one or two sequences offer glimpses of a purer game.”

The PlayStation 5 version of The Medium launches on September 3 2021, and will be joined by a retail release for the Xbox and PC version. Developer Bloober Team is now also working with Konami “to produce games from existing and new IP.”
