WARNING: Potential spoilers for The Last of Us Part 3 ahead.
Naughty Dog hasn’t even confirmed yet if they’re working on the third instalment in the Last of Us story. However, a new leak claims that part of The Last of Us Part 3 will focus on a completely new set of characters. Entertainment industry insider, Daniel Richtman noted a number of leaks in a Patreon post today. These leaks haven’t been confirmed by Naughty Dog yet so please take everything you read below with a grain of salt.
In the leak, via Resetera user Boltz, Richtman claimed that “part of the plot will be about a group of scavengers surviving on the outskirts of a post-apocalyptic city, crammed into a Victorian house that serves as their base.” Alongside this, Richtman also laid out some of the roles being advertised including:
- Lucas: Male, affable, but develops a relationship with another young scavenger and will have a turn that shows his dark side.
- Mason: Male, a former soldier. When Val gets put in charge, Mason must choose between his loyalty to Ezra and the house.
- Val: Female, Leader of the group.
- Ezra: Male, wants to take over the house from Val
- Gracie: Female, 18-25 (no details on this character)
While these leaks might suggest that the story of The Last of Us Part 3 is set to follow a completely new set of characters it’s important to note that the absence of Ellie and Abby in this leak does not mean they will be absent from the game. As the leak itself notes, this is apparently “part of the plot” meaning it could be substantial story content or just a small side activity. Again, given these leaks haven’t been confirmed, and this is the first time we’re hearing them please do take everything mentioned with a grain of salt. Alongside this, it’s unlikely we’ll see any formal confirmation on The Last of Us Part 3 from Naughty Dog soon as they haven’t even announced the game and are currently working on a standalone multiplayer The Last of Us game.
In other The Last of Us news, Sony accidentally leaked confidential The Last of Us 2 info due to a poorly redacted document and The Last of Us devs confirm work on a “brand new single-player experience”.
