Nexon has released The First Descendant update 1.2.4. This is the update that added Ines Raya to the game, and Nexon is giving players free rewards as an apology for its maintenance getting extended. Unfortunately, while the update has added a lot of fantastic new content with Ines Raya and the Lunar New Year skins, the update has screwed a lot of the The First Descendant players, even after the release of a hotfix.

New The First Descendant update screws PS5 players

Following the release of update 1.2.4, The First Descendant has been unplayable for a lot of PS5 players. For whatever reason, following the release of the patch, TFD has been crashing for a lot of fans on PS5 upon, and even before, entering Albion.

Nexon released hotfix 1.2.4b at 5:30AM GMT on January 17th, and the brief patch notes claim that it fixes the crashing issue for PS5 players when connecting to TFD. However, this isn’t the case, as acknowledged by the developer on Discord.

On the game’s official Discord, Nexon posted at 7AM GMT, “The [PS5 crashing] issue has been found to persist even after Hotfix 1.2.4b. We are currently identifying the cause and will resolve it as quickly as possible”.

A lot of fans are understandably frustrated, with many venting their frustrations over on Reddit. Many PS5 players claim the game is immediately crashing as soon as they enter Albion, while others are reporting that the game can’t even start. It is possible to fix the issue by simply downloading and playing the PS4 version, but this is obviously not ideal.

It is a massive shame for Nexon and the PlayStation community as update 1.2.4 has added a lot of good new content to TFD. There’s obviously Ines Raya and the Lunar New Year skins, but there’s also the introduction of weapon cores, reworks for Valby, Luna, and Jayber, and plenty more. Hopefully the issue will be resolved soon so PlayStation gamers can join the fun.
