The Finals received an update yesterday that provided some huge changes to the game. It buffed the 93R and it also made changes to Terminal Attack. Most importantly though, it made a bevy of alterations to the fan-favorite Cashout. While most of the Cashout changes have been received well, a PSA from The Finals community claims there is “no reason” not to self-kill anymore.

Make sure to check out The Finals update 3.6.0 patch notes to see all of the massive changes from Embark. In addition, you can now a buy a bundle with a “sick” legendary outfit that ultimately pays you back with Multibucks. The community has also become shocked in discovering that kill stealing is listed as against the game’s terms of service.

Embark’s new update made a lot of changes to the game, including a list of significant alterations to Cashout. While most of the changes are good, The Finals fans claim there is an oversight from the developer.

The Finals Cashout PSA

On The Finals subreddit, OP Pumpkineng has shared a post titled, ‘PSA: With the changes to Cashout, you can prevent somebody from getting $500 for killing you if you rpg your feet when you’re low’.

The post argues “This game has no assisted suicide kill credit, which didn’t matter previously because if you killed yourself you would still whipe your team, losing them a bunch of cash. Now there is no reason not to suicide when you’re about to lose a fight”. The OP further argues, “Embark needs to add kill credits for assisted suicide, this was an oversight”.

Reacting to this PSA, the replies say, “Ah great we’ve degraded to killing ourselfs being actually optimal…. I wasn’t sure about these changes to begin with especially the team wipe penalty being removed”. Another comment says, “They should just add assisted sewer slide credit”.

Below are the changes made to Cashout in 3.6.0:

  • Increased cash awarded for kills from $200 to $500
  • ~30% of the cash in a Cashbox is now awarded to the team that deposits the Cashbox the moment it is added to the Cashout Station. The remaining ~70% of the cash in a Cashbox is awarded when the cashout is completed at the Cashout Station. These values are rounded off to give easier-to-understand values. This replaces the previous $2000 a team would receive for initiating a cashout.
  • Removed all cash loss penalties for team wipes
  • Updated the Vault spawning logic at the start of a match for more even distribution
  • Added new notification messages to the HUD for when cash is awarded to a team
  • Increased the time taken to steal a cashout from 6s to 7s
    • Dev Note: We’ve felt for some time that Cashout generates more ‘third party’ fights than intended, as well as long-lasting team-versus-team encounters, and that happens in part because of the incentives of the scoring system. We are testing the changes above to see if they address these issues and improve the overall experience.  These changes have been selected as the ruleset for the VOLPE Championships. We’ll monitor how they perform via telemetry and your feedback and will adjust them as needed.
