Update: Skyrim is now the same price on PS3 at Amazon.co.uk.

UK video games retailer gamestation has slashed the price of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim to just £22.49 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, while the PC version will be on sale for £19.99.

The low price comes even as the game sits inside the Top 5 of the All Formats All Prices UK video game chart.

According to MCV, the Skyrim price cut was originally intended to go live later this week, but store managers are now being instructed to honour the lower price immediately.

With so many new games hitting stores over the autumn it hasn’t taken long for high profile releases to sink below the £25 mark – we’re looking at Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Warhammer: 40,000 Space Marine and even Uncharted 3 – but these titles were all slipping down the chart. Skyrim, on the other hand, has continued to sell well since its release on November 11.

Such an aggressive price cut could be enough to see the title surge up the chart and potentially challenge for the No.1 spot which is currently owned by Modern Warfare 3.
