I write this knowing you may click this and be disappointed. I did the best I could but, as a title, ‘The Black Mirror game (from the game series that originally began in 2004, not Charlie Brooker’s TV show) has a creepy new trailer’ seemed too long.

The Black Mirror we’re talking about is in fact a creepy Gothic-horror adventure game, and is a ‘modern re-imagining’ of the series that debuted in 2004 with The Black Mirror (followed by Black Mirror II and Black Mirror III), published by THQ Nordic. It’s a point and click adventure telling the story of a ridiculously creepy family, and focusing on ‘the horror of the mind’.

This reboot tells a totally independent story, so you don’t need to have played any of the previous Black Mirror games. Check out the trailer to see all your favourite horror tropes in one place: terrifying old lady who moves like she’s on wheels; ghosts; walking around a library by candlelight; family curse; I should have killed you when I had the chance, boy!’ I’m well up for it, to be fair.

Black Mirror is out on November 28 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
