It’s Friday! Or is it? Time is a social construct, so I could tell you it’s Wednesday today, and how could you prove me wrong? It’s Friday because it’s the fifth day this week, but when did this week start? Can’t prove that either, I’m afraid. Well, the calendar in the bottom right corner of the monitor says it’s Friday. Who told the computer that it’s Friday? Anyone could change that display in the settings. What I can say, for certain, is that events occurred and news transpired in this indefinable time period, and it’s been turned into bite-size chunks, here in the round up…
I feel like rubbish. My nose hurts. So does my head. I’ve chipped my nail polish and usually I wouldn’t care about that but I’m fragile today. There’s only one person that could make all of this disappear with a flash and a twinkle of a silver bell on a reflective collar.
My cat! My cat’s getting on a bit (she’s twelve, but don’t tell her I told you). She’s sophisticated and independent now, a shade of the excitable kitten who seemed to be connected to the National Grid with fur that stood out at all angles. She has a boyfriend too, and he’s a younger man so we did tease her for a bit, calling her ‘Mrs Robinson.’ As you would expect, it was like water off a duck’s back and she ignored our japes, mainly because she doesn’t speak English.
Anyway, my cat is lovely and cats are lovely. It’s an animal that makes a noise like a pneumatic drill when it is happy. This is the pinnacle of evolution. Maybe you’re not a fan. Maybe you think they’ve got funny eyes, to which I say, that’s rude. But you cannot deny that free-floating clavicle bones are kickass. These let the cat squish into tiny spaces and climb up to where they can observe the lesser creatures on this earth. Speaking of the lesser creatures, cats’ meows are within the same frequency as a crying baby so us humans can’t help but tune in like big ol’ doofuses. They’re great. More people should learn from cats. Not the free-floating bone stuff but the companionship stuff. Here is the news.
Diablo 4 promises to return to the ‘darker roots’ of the series
‘We’re excited to be returning to the dark, quintessential Diablo gameplay that players love while expanding the world and story in new ways, and we can’t wait for more people to be able to experience it,’ Blizzard president J. Allen Brack said. Diablo 4 has been waiting in the wings for the opportune moment to emerge from the shadows, and opened the show at BlizzCon 2019. The first three of its character classes were revealed through playable demos at the convention. Diablo 4’s big bad is not the man himself, however. He’s been booted out by Lilith, daughter of Mephisto and Queen of the Succubi. I don’t really know much about Diablo, but I support her. In addition, Blizzard is hoping to deliver cross-play and has its eye on the next-generation for the game.
Overwatch 2 is happening and it’s got a story mode
‘Ever get the feeling of déjà vu?’ As well as poster girl Tracer, all 31 heroes will be present in Overwatch 2 and the sequel will place Overwatch 1 and 2 players together in matches. So what is new? The comprehensive story mode in which four player teams battle against omnics and Talon in the PvE mode. There will be new maps and new heroes, and players will be able to customise their characters with level ups and enhanced hero abilities. Overwatch 2 is in development, but we don’t know when it will release nor which platforms it is planned for. All evidence points to PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, but they might not all release at the same time.
Horizon Zero Dawn 2 hinted in Guerrilla Games job opportunity
Guerrilla Games is seeking a Technical Vegetation Artist who would develop ‘the creation of vegetation assets that are used to dress the game world.’ Look closer at the remit, and it says that the environment art team at Guerrilla is split into four groups who are ‘dedicated to creating the stunning environments of Horizon.’ Hang about. No one said anything about Horizon Zero More. Well, excluding voice actress Janina Gavankar, who enthused, ‘Wait ’til you see the sequel. You’re gonna die.’ It seems the cat is out of the bag, but Guerrilla Games hasn’t confirmed the existence of a new game. It hasn’t denied it either, though. Hmm.
Fortnite pro FaZe Jarvis permanently banned for using an aimbot
‘I’ve actually been banned on Fortnite for life,’ Jarvis Kaye, known as FaZe Jarvis, said in an apology video. ‘Recently, I’ve posted some videos of me using aimbot in solos and playground mode. All I was thinking about while I was making those videos was just how entertaining and interesting these videos would be for you guys to watch. It didn’t even cross my mind that I could be banned for life on Fortnite.’ Epic Games explained that it has ‘zero tolerance’ for the use of cheat software and bans will be issued to professionals and casual players alike. Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins, another famous Fortnite content creator, said that ‘the stakes are different’ and Kaye should be reinstated. ‘He’s still super young, so I think he’s just a stupid kid making a stupid decision, and didn’t really think about it,’ he continued. ‘There’s a difference between a content creator who has millions of subscribers, who then gets banned from what makes him money, and some kid who is just a piece of s*** who has zero followings, zero money from gaming.’
Deep Down is still out there, says Capcom’s Yoshinori Ono
Deep Down? I haven’t heard that name in… four years. At the 2015 Tokyo Game Show, Capcom’s free-to-play action role-playing game looked very nice in the Panta Rhei engine. It was the product of a troubled development journey, but the company believed it could support ten years of content after its launch. Then, all was quiet. Eurogamer spoke to Capcom corporate officer Yoshinori Ono and asked where the project had ended up. ‘The original team is clearly no longer together at this point, but people might have noticed that we’ve kept the trademark registered, and it’s not been completely given up on,’ he said. ‘Every year we examine titles we’re doing in future, and we bring up projects to approve and move forward. There’s not much I can say about it, but if you’ve noticed we’ve kept the trademark it means we haven’t given up on the title completely.’ Given that Capcom is tempted to return to ‘dormant intellectual properties’, perhaps we’ll hear news about Deep Down sooner than we think.

And, he comes with 50 new songs! Sakurai, are you nutty? Well, it’s not completely his fault because he asked Fatal Fury developer SNK for 50 songs and it did exactly that. The fourth Challenger Pack adds SNK-themed goodness to Nintendo’s fighting game, like the King of Fighters Stadium. This has walls on either side of the stage, and players will be able to punt an adversary with a high percentage through the wall. Stage cameos include Billy Kane, Geese Howard, Goro Daimon, and Yuri Sakazaki, but not Mai Shiranui. Mii Fighters get five fresh fits mimicking characters like Nakoruru and Iori Yagami. Sakurai also recommended a few SNK fighting games if anyone is interested in Bogard’s beginnings.
Hitman 3 development is in full swing, says IO Interactive
The developer just dropped that news very casually in the midst of the November roadmap update for Hitman 2. Very sneaky. ‘After 13 months of full-time support and content for Hitman 2 – at no additional cost (besides what we added through the Expansion Pass), we’re now at a place where we are looking increasingly to the future. In real terms, we’re moving more and more of the Hitman 2 team to join the next Hitman game, which is well underway,’ it said. As a result, the November update will be the last major update coming to Hitman 2. But, IO Interactive has intentions to support the game into 2020, with new Escalation Contracts, Elusive Targets, Community-curated Contracts, and some festive-themed content too.
Pokémon Go invaded by Giovanni and Team Rocket in new update
Prepare for trouble, but make it triple. Three new Team Rocket Leaders have landed in Pokémon Go. They are Arlo, Cliff, and Sierra and are directly working for Giovanni, the head honcho of Team Rocket in the anime. When players battle the Team Rocket grunts, they may find a Mysterious Component. Collect six of the Components to create the Rocket Radar and reveal the location of one of the three Rocket Leaders lurking close by. As part of the ‘Looming in the Shadows’ Special Research questline, players will investigate Team Rocket’s no-good deeds and may even face off with Giovanni himself. Also, Niantic released a seriously cool trailer for the new update and I did watch it more times than I care to mention.
