Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s latest DLC fighter, Fatal Fury’s Terry Bogard, has been added to the game today along with colour variations, a new stage, stage cameos, and 50 new tracks (via YouTube).
We had an inkling that the fourth fighter in the Challenger Pack 4 would be from a SNK IP, and then it was revealed that Terry Bogard from Fatal Fury would be barreling onto the scene. In today’s livestream, Masahiro Sakurai walked us through how the character will work as well as the extra goodies bundled along with the new fighter. He also recommended a few SNK fighting games if anyone is interested in Bogard’s humble origins.

His neutral, side, up, and down specials are Power Wave, Burning Knuckle, Rising Tackle, and Power Dunk respectively. Terry’s Final Smash is the Triple Wolf, which looks much more painful than a Double Wolf. His outfit variations aren’t anything to write home about because they swap the primary colours of his simple yet understated vest and jeans combo. Shouldn’t mess with a classic, I suppose. The new stage is the King of Fighters Stadium and it has proper walls on either side of the stage. The closer you are to these walls, the greater the chance to launch an enemy with high percentage through it.
And, 18 of SNK’s characters from various franchises make an appearance as stage cameos. Among these are Billy Kane, Geese Howard, Goro Daimon, and Yuri Sakazaki. Mai Shiranui won’t be tagging along, Sakurai explained, because she isn’t age-appropriate for a game with a family-friendly image. In addition, the Mii Fighter has received five new themed outfits. Players will be able to dress up as Samurai Shodown’s Nakoruru, Art Of Fighting’s Ryo Sakazaki, King of Fighters’ Iori Yagami, and Virtua Fighter’s Akira and Jacky. These are all available in the game now and are priced at $0.75 each.
Most impressively, the DLC update comes with not one, not two, not three, not four- actually, this could get quite tiresome. There are 50 new tracks. Apparently, Sakurai asked for that many tracks and SNK gave him the thumbs up, sending him on his way with a multitude of songs from its fighting games. Fair play to him.
Challenger Pack 4 is priced at $5.99 and includes all of the above. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is out now on Nintendo Switch, and watch the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate livestream premiering Terry Bogard below.
