The third faction to be revealed in Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is the Baron of Aurora, joining the previously announced Pioneers and Camarilla factions.

The sequel will introduce five factions, or clusters of vampires united behind one singular cause driving the transformation of Seattle under the cover of night. All are competing and vying for control, and are unique in their history, characteristics, and motivations. The protagonist may join, manipulate, or set these factions at odds with each other, but their choice will have consequences.

Pioneers are traditionalists, Camarilla vampires are ultramodern, but the Baron will stop at nothing to get what he wants. Sitting on a throne and overseeing a criminal organisation with its hooks in every corner of the city, the Baron operates in darkness and takes that vampiric requirement very seriously. If you can stomach the work he has for you, power and coin will follow, and its this network of loyal lieutenants that gives the Baron his strength.

To me, it is evident that this is a reference to the Baron (or Barren) Afanas from What We Do In The Shadows. Whether we do finally meet the man himself on a rave and he vomits so violently it propels him into the air, remains to be seen.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will launch for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC in 2020.
