Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive developer Team Ninja is working on a PlayStation 4 title, studio head Yosuke Hayashi has revealed.

Hayashi teased the news in an interview with Dengeki Online (translated by Gematsu) while discussing Spark Unlimited’s upcoming Ninja Gaiden spin-off Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z.

“First, we will release Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z for PS3 and Xbox 360,” he said, “which we joint developed with the Inafune-led company Comcept. Please look forward to this ridiculous ‘zombie x ninja’ game.

“Additionally, we’re also developing a PlayStation 4 title internally, so please look forward to future updates.”

The title is likely the next core instalment in the Ninja Gaiden series teased by Hayashi last year.

Back in December, Hayashi told fans hesitant about the upcoming spin-off not to worry as “Team Ninja is thinking of the next Ninja Gaiden.”

“You just let it out that you’re coming up with the next [juicy] steak!” added director Keiji Inafune. “So to the people waiting for that next Ninja Gaiden, it’s coming! And in the meantime, enjoy Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z!”

Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z is due to launch on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on March 21.
