Nintendo has confirmed that the upcoming Pokemon Let's Go! Pikachu and Pokemon Let's Go! Eevee will support Switch's paid-for online subscription.

Essentially, if you want to slug it out online in Pokemon battles or trade the little blighters, you'll need to pony up the cash for Ninty's September-launching service.

In addition, the statement issued to Eurogamer reveals that Pokemon Let's Go will slim down the series' traditional online elements. The global trading system has been given the boot, as has the Battle Spot feature.

'An active membership for the Nintendo Switch Online service, which is scheduled to begin in September of this year, will be required to access these features,' said Nintendo.

For those out of the loop, the Big N's online subscription charges around £18 for an annual membership.

Pokemon Let's Go! Pikachu and Pokemon Let's Go! Eevee will launch for the Switch on November 16. Those of you holding out for a proper Pokemon RPG needn't worry — that's coming next year
