The Dark Pictures and Until Dawn developer Supermassive Games appears to have registered a new trademark for something called The Quarry.

The listing was spotted over the weekend as reported by Video Games Chronicle. Twitter user The_Marmolade gave the headsup on the listing, that was registered on the European Union Intellectual Property Office. The entry lists the categories for the filing under “Games Software”, “Entertainment Services” and “Computer Programming Services”.

Interestingly enough, the name does not appear to be related to the ongoing The Dark Pictures horror series. According to VGC’s own sources, they claim the game will be a separate project published by 2K Games. It could even arrive, they say, later this year. However, neither 2K nor Supermassive have responded to the report at the time of writing.

It’s been a busy month for Supermassive in the realm of trademark filing. At the start of February, several trademarks for five The Dark Pictures titles were uncovered on the same website. While none of them have yet been confirmed, the same website revealed the name of The Dark Pictures: The Devil in Me back in July. The game itself wouldn’t be formally unveiled until October came around a few months later with a release this October.

Meanwhile, there’s no clues as to what The Quarry might be, or whether it’ll fit in the mould of Supermassive’s usual adventure fare, but hopefully we’ll hear more soon. If and when we do, we’ll let you know.
