Street Fighter V composer Daniel Lindholm has said that Fei Long will no longer feature in future Street Fighter games.

During a YouTube Q&A livestream (via VG 24/7, Lindholm talked about the situation:

“I do have other sources, not only [from] Capcom, but friends of mine in the U.S., who are very close friends with the Lee family. They have basically said that any kind of resemblance to Mr. Bruce Lee is now omitted for comedic effect. It needs to be honourable. That’s why we won’t see Fei Long again. Ever.”

It is maybe understandable that the Lee estate would want to protect Bruce Lee’s image. However, Fei Long was a fairly serious and focussed character. Though, granted, if he fights Blanka, for example, who is green and charged with electricity and likes to cannonball himself at people, then that could be seen as comedic.

Capcom hasn’t commented on Lindholm’s statement, but, if it is true, then could the Tekken series’ Marshall Law be next?

In other Street Fighter news, Capcom announced Street Fighter 6 earlier this year. We don’t have a release date for it yet. But we do know that the game’s logo looks very strange, indeed, and has ditched roman numerals, which isn’t cool.
