Slitherine Games has announced that upcoming RTS Starship Troopers: Terran Command has been delayed until June.

The game, based on the Paul Verhoeven movie series, was set to come out at the end of this month. However, it seems we’ll have to wait a little longer to recreate our favourite scenes from the 1995 sci-fi classic. Slitherine, along with developer The Artistocrats, explained the reasons for the delay in a brief statement.

“We know many will find this announcement disappointing and we apologise”. They continued “We truly feel that a few extra months of further polish and bug fixing will make a significant difference. We intend to deliver a finished and polished game, and it is very important to us that you are able to fully enjoy the game from day 1, without any issue spoiling your fun or without having to wait for future patches or hotfixes.”

“The game is now content complete,” they say. “And all remaining development time will be entirely focused on what already exists. We can’t wait to reveal more, and we plan to show you a lot in the months leading up to the launch in June.”

Starship Troopers: Terran Command was first announced as far back as 2019. It’s mainly based on the first movie, and sees players defending the desert planet Kwalasha against giant killer alien bugs. Presumably, you’ll have to do a better job than the the troops of the movie. But thankfully you’ll have plenty of units, weapons and abilities at your disposal to do so.

All being well, Starship Troopers: Terran Command will now launch on PC on June 16, 2022. You can check out the game’s most recent trailer from about a year ago below.
