Starfield’s 1000 planets, space combat and vast open worlds may be getting the headlines, but there’s actually another, smaller detail that you may want to keep you eyes on. Onions.
Starfield has some of the most realistic onions we have ever seen. Tiny details, even down to the light reflecting off the skin makes them look almost photorealistic. Just see for yourself, courtesy of this lovely in-game photo from Reddit user Overpaideengineer. In a world hyped for its almost infinite vastness it’s great to see Bethesda hasn’t forgotten about the little details.
They’re getting rave reviews from the community, who were not holding back when it came to onion-related puns. One wrote: “So realistic looking, I’m tearing up.”.Same here.
The vegetable has caused quite the debate on Reddit, with some gamers claiming this shows the graphical inconsistency of the game. One wrote: “I’m playing this game maxed at 4K on PC, and using the DLSS mod with 67% upscale. DLSS fixed the facial hair looking a bit edgy btw, looks amazing now.
“But I can’t believe how realistic a lot of the game looks. For example walking around the ship, or inside New Atlantis, and the well etc looks mindblowing. They definitely used high quality textures for this game.”
Another added: “I’m glad that they have their priorities straight. You’ll get photo realistic onions but a weird ass gray depiction of space. I hope some modder will release a “Dark Space” mod to fix that nonsense.” While someone else simply wrote: “Damn onions are the reason we play with 30 fps.”
Whatever side you’re taking, it’s hard not to same the game isn’t multi-layered. See what we did there?
