The Starfield modding community is already planning a community patch to streamline and improve the upcoming game. Nexusmods, the well respected and loved modding community have announced that a Starfield community patch will be in the works as soon as possible to tackle any issues that could detract from the ambitious game.

The website states the overall goal of the patch is to ‘improve the vanilla experience for all players’. Fixes included in the patch are intended to correct bugs or errors in the base game, Nexusmods state. They provide the following examples:

  • Misplaced objects
  • Script errors
  • Inconsistencies in item properties
  • Faulty missions/quests
  • Game-breaking exploits
  • Missing attributes (such as tags, header flags, etc.)
  • Spelling/localisation errors

The also state the patch will not be adding new quests, missions and weapons – and instead will be focusing on the overall game experience.

  • New content (new quests, missions, characters, items, etc.)
  • Balance changes (outside of correcting obvious errors)
  • Any tweaks that are not in keeping with the original vision for the game

The post states that the project has actually been in the planning stages as far back as December 2021, but was of course delayed as the game itself was delayed. It’s also hoped that the the community will get behind the mods, there is a core team of four talented modders who will be driving the effort. As of today, there are no mods listed on the site, but in time more will come – much like Skyrim.

We think this is a fantastic iniatative and it’s awesome to see such huge support for a game that really will flourish in the modding community. For those looking to play the game, Starfield arrives in early access shortly, and you can read all about it in our Starfield early access guide.
