The Starfield gameplay trailer exhibited during the Xbox Games Showcase made Bethesda’s interplanetary entry even more of a hit with the community, but the reported presence of loading screens when you enter buildings in the game has apparently disappointed some fans.

Even though loading screens for structures have been a common occurrence for Bethesda titles since the beginning, it seems that some are especially disgruntled this time around due to the fact that the developers are now using more advanced tech than before. This minor issue becomes even more pronounced because of Starfield’s 30fps cap that’ll make the game’s visuals stand out amongst a sea of graphically advanced creations.

A user named Box even created a post on the notorious IconEra gaming forum expressing their frustration at the ever-present Starfield loading screen. In their message, the post creator said that they “understand the [need for] loading screens when entering planets,” but that having ones for structures in “a game that is supposedly built with high specs in mind” is just baffling.

Most of the people commenting under the thread predictably agreed with Box’s sentiment as one user even made the bold claim that “No Man’s Sky tech is drastically more impressive.” Luckily, there were a few fans that decided to defend Starfield instead as one player ended up saying that “if it’s <5 seconds no one should care. What matters is if the game is good or if it’s going to be 90% empty lifeless worlds.”

Based on most of the player reactions so far on multiple social media sites, though, it seems that the ones criticizing Starfield are in the minority as many continue to be impressed with the improvements that have been made to the highly anticipated outer-space based game. Only time will tell if it can live up to the hype, but for now we’ll just have to remain patient until it gets launched towards the end of the year.

The Starfield release date is set to be on September 6, 2023 for the Xbox Series X|S and PC.
