Gamers hoping to strike up a conversation with randoms during large-scale scuffles in Star Wars: Battlefront are out of luck, with EA confirming the game won’t make use of a dedicated chat system on any platform.

Asked about chat on Twitter, the EAStarWars account replied: “You can choose your favourite third party software to communicate with friends on PC.”

“Battlefront will utilize the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One built-in party system for in-game chat.”

This means that anyone with a large group of friends battling together should be able to communicate without issue, but it’s those who are going into matches with random players who will miss out.

Some veteran Battlefield players argue that voice chat isn’t used all that much anyway, but the option to chat with whoever you’re teamed up with would have been nice.

Star Wars Battlefront launches on PS4, Xbox One and PC on November 19.
