It looks like EA is making good on its promise to offer future major Star Wars Battlefront II content for free, as the publisher has detailed the first season of content for the shooter after its launch next week, all based around the upcoming Star Wars movie The Last Jedi.

As per a post on the Battlefront II website, the season will kick off on December 5 as players are asked to pick between the warring First Order or the Resistance sides, then on December 13 Captain Phasma and ol’Boyega himself Finn joins each side respectively as hero units, becoming available via the purchase of in-game credits. Furthermore, whichever side completes the most challenges in that week will also nab themselves a crate of high-power unlocks for their team’s hero.

Then, also on December 13 two new maps will drop based on The Last Jedi – Galactic Assault map Crait and the Starfighter Assault map D’Qar in addition to a new ship in the form of Tallie Lintra’s RZ-2 A-wing. Poe Dameron’s T-70 X-wing also gets a new ability based on the movie.

And that’s still not all, as they’ve also announced a big chunk of additional single-player content. Entitled Resurrection, the additional chapters will document the early days of player-character Iden Verso during the First Order’s rise to power.

It’s a substantial haul of content and certainly seems pretty generous, though it’s worth remembering the controversial lootbox system, albeit tweaked, seems like it won’t be going anywhere. Star Wars Battlefront II releases on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC November 17
