The hugely impressive Star Wars 1313, which LucasArts has confirmed is running in real time on a high end Nvidia-powered PC, is being made using Unreal Engine 3, Epic Games VP Mark Rein has revealed on Twitter.

“Star Wars 1313 is amazing and ‪#MadeWithUE3‬,” Rein Tweeted. “Way to go Lucasarts!”

There had been speculation that Star Wars 1313 is actually targeting next generation consoles – and this may still be the case – but the fact Unreal Engine 3 is being used suggests a PS3 and Xbox 360 release is entirely possible.

There’s no word on a release date or platforms, but more information is promised this year.

Meanwhile Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs has a distinct next-gen feel to it, even though the publisher has confirmed its release on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

Is the real power of the gaming PC finally being used?
