Square Enix has announced Star Ocean: First Departure R, a remake and retelling of the original Star Ocean RPG, for release on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
It's actually a remaster of the PSP release, which was originally entitled Star Ocean: First Departure and came out all the way back in 2008. The game sees you play as three friends searching for the cure to a new disease before getting caught up in an intergalatic war between two space-faring federations.
There'll be new features for the Switch and PlayStation 4, but the details of which are currently under wraps but the Square Enix Twitter account has promised more news in the future, asking fans to 'keep communication channels open for further updates.'
It comes as welcome news to Star Ocean fans, who were told last year they may have to 'wait a little longer' for a Star Ocean 6.
