Square Enix's Shuichi Kobayashi has suggested that fans 'wait a little longer' for the announcement of Star Ocean 6, after the sequel was a no-show at the recent Star Ocean Fes 2018 (via Gematsu).

Speaking during a Star Ocean Program live stream, Kobayashi-san acknowledged that fans are eager to see a new entry in the long-running series, since it's been a few years since the last game, Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness, hit stores in 2016.

However, he seemed to imply that the focus for now is on the mobile game Star Ocean: Ananmesis.

'I understand, I know what else everyone would like to hear, but speaking frankly, it's not that simple to make,' he said. 'If this could be made without tri-Ace, then surely it would [be] possible. But that's not the case, is it? I'm saying please wait a little longer. Won't you please wait a little longer?'

He added: 'Please keep faith in us as we continue with Anamnesis. I'll also do my best. That's all I can say today, but I believe that everyone's support will empower us to work hard.'

Star Ocean: Anamnesis was released in Japan last December to mark the 20th anniversary of the franchise.
