GSC Game World’s Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl is in a much better place now that the open-world game’s brilliant A-Life mechanics are finally pseudo-stable. While the team is mostly focused on updates to the base game and the upcoming PS5 release, the developer has teased the game’s upcoming DLC expansions.
In the past, GSC confirmed that the multiple in-development Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl expansions will offer “fresh perspectives on the Zone”. Since then, the team has been rather quiet about what players will be able to do in those expansions, but now a new tease has been released.
Stalker 2 DLC will have a tonne of content
Speaking to fans in the official Stalker Discord server, GSC Game World confirmed that each DLC will bring a lot of content to the game. While they didn’t touch on the previous “fresh perspectives” tease, they confirmed that each expansion will be meaty.
“Let’s put it this way: the upcoming DLCs will bring a lot of new content to the game,” the developer told fans. “You’ll definitely have places to explore and things to do. Stay tuned!”
Alongside teasing the huge scope of the upcoming Stalker 2 expansions, the team also responded to fan requests of joinable factions. Joining factions in prior games generally wasn’t a great idea—although it was less so joining and more so being friends with a group—but GSC has a chance to overhaul this feature to actually be fun and useful.
When asked if joinable factions would be added to the game in a future update, GSC said: “Maybe they will—time will tell”. In the past, the studio has given similar responses to now-added features such as mutant loot.
As for the main issues plaguing Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, the studio confirmed that “improving performance is currently one of our top priorities”. Built on an early version of Unreal Engine 5, the game can be a massive performance hog, but the studio is still dedicated to optimising the game further with the team “actively working on it” at the time of writing.
