The first major patch for Stalker 2 is finally here, bringing hundreds of fixes to GSC Game World’s open-world survival game. As the studio battles Russian disinformation campaigns and millions of fans, the first major patch makes tonnes of changes to the game, but the A-Life system is still broken.
Stalker 2 Patch 1.0.1
In the patch notes for the new Stalker 2 patch, GSC Game World has made some fantastic changes to the survival game. For example, after listening to fan feedback, the developer decreased the repair costs for weapons and armours to make exploring the open world more rewarding.
Additionally, the new update has significantly increased the cost of artifacts, encouraging players to discover and sell them. Furthermore, mission rewards have been universally increased to double or even triple their original outputs.
GSC Game World has also made it so that combat is less annoying in general. Every non-human enemy has seen reduced damage outputs as well as making them take more damage. As we said in our review, fighting humans is fun, but those pesky Bloodsuckers were an issue.
Bloodsuckers in particular have been significantly nerfed in this latest update. Their damage output has been rebalanced, they take more damage from guns and they regenerate far less damage when they run out of combat, allowing you to hunt them down and eliminate them.
A-Life is still broken
The biggest issue with Stalker 2 at the time of writing is its broken A-Life system which many modders are attempting to fix. Unfortunately, GSC Game World has not been able to fix the AI simulation system for the game’s first major update, but the team is still working on it.
“The work on the game and future patches continues,” the developer told fans in the blog post. “We are working on fixing the A-Life bugs, which will be addressed in future patches.”
If you’re still waiting until the AI simulation system is fixed to experience the new game, the entire original trilogy of Stalker games is currently on sale right now. They’re also fantastic on Steam Deck.
