Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition is due for release in a little over three weeks now, and Capcom has just posted a detailed FAQ to explain how the new version will affect the existing community.

Clearly it would be a bit silly for us to re-post all the information on Capcom Unity, but the pertinent points explain matchmaking between Arcade Edition players and those who are still using “normal” Super Street Fighter IV.

In a nutshell, old Super players will only be able to set up lobbies for other Super Users. Gamers who’ve adopted the DLC Arcade Edition will be able to create AE-only lobbies, or those which are open to both sets of players.

A small “Update Kit” will be made available for free download on June 7, allowing Super players to join or watch AE battles.

If you do chose to download the expansion, your old Battle Points and Player Points will not be wiped – but these older stats will only be used when fighting users of the older version of the game. Arcade Edition starts tracking a fresh set of points as soon as you begin play.

Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition will be released via download on June 7 at a cost of €14.99 or 1200 MS Points. A boxed version will also be available on June 24.
