Splatoon will have a two week price reduction to £25.99, available from July 7 to July 21, Nintendo has announced.

The sale price gives new players the chance to pick up the popular game ahead of its final ever Splatfest event on July 22.

Splatfests were regular events where players vote on important debates, like whether they prefer cats or dogs, or whether pineapple on pizza is delicious or disgusting. [DAVE – The answer is obviously delicious.] Once players pick a side, they then form a team with like-minded players and battle the opposing side for supremacy.

In the final Splatfest players must decide who is their favourite Squid Sister – Callie or Marie – then compete against other players from Europe and North America. The battle will take place from 10am BST on Friday, July 22 until 10 am BST on Sunday, July 24.

The new Callie and Marie amiibo figures are also set to be released this Friday, July 8, available on their own or as a pair. Also released on the same day will be new colours for the Inkling Girl, Inkling Boy, and Inkling Squid amiibo figures in limited quantities.

Pre-order the new amiibo figures now from Amazon(?)
