Insomniac Games has confirmed that Spider-Man will feature Mary Jane as a playable character and will be locked at 30fps on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro, though it’ll still look and play a little better on the latter.

The developer spilled the beans during a speedy Q&A with Game Informer with Creative Director Bryan Intihar revealing a bunch of interesting tidbits on Spidey’s open-world adventure. Pleasingly, one of the key snippets to come out of the chinwag is that Spider-Man will not feature microtransactions.

The superhero title boasts an open-world that is ‘several times’ bigger than Sunset Overdrive, and amusingly includes the ability to take selfies with civilians and high-five them. Those hoping for a glimpse at Uncle Ben’s death however had better not get their hopes up: ‘Hell no’ was Intihar’s response to that particular question.

Finally, Spider-Man will feature a crafting system of some description and will receive post-launch downloadable content (we’ve already seen a glimpse of this in the Digital Deluxe Edition’s ‘The City That Never Sleeps’ DLC missions).

Spider-Man is due for release exclusively for PS4 on September 7 in the UK and US.Â
