Warhammer company Games Workshop is planning to open dozens of new physical stores following the massive success of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. With the release of Saber Interactive’s video game causing the biggest year ever for the British tabletop company, more stores are coming across the world.

Space Marine 2 causes more Warhammer stores

Announced during Games Workshop’s annual earnings report, spotted by MSN, the release of Space Marine 2 supercharged physical in-store sales. At the end of the year, the company saw a 30% rise in pre-tax profit which will be used to open more stores around the world.

Games Workshop confirmed that a total of 35 new stores will be opened globally in the next year, focusing on underserved markets. This means that official Warhammer stores will open across North America, mainland Europe and Asia.

“After a record year, we remain focused on delivering our operational plans and working tirelessly to overcome any significant obstacles that get in the way,” said CEO Kevin Rountree. ‘We will continue to give ourselves the freedom to make some mistakes, constantly working on improvements in product quality and manufacturing innovation.”

Alongside the announcement, Rountree explained that there is no guarantee that the success caused by Space Marine 2 is not guaranteed to continue. However, with more major Warhammer games on the way—including the early in-development Space Marine 3—there is hope that the company will continue to see growth.

Of course, the explosion in popularity of the physical Warhammer tabletop game has been a huge boon post-COVID. Now that players are able to actually play the massive tabletop war game with friends consistently, there’s been a continued steady growth ever since the pandemic.

Additionally, there is more Warhammer 40K content in the works alongside more Space Marine content, including the upcoming Amazon TV series helmed by Man of Steel actor Henry Cavill.
