Thunderful and Carry Castle have announced that cosmic horror action RPG Source of Madness will launch on May 11.

First announced back in June of 2020, the game throws you into an alternate reality ruled by cosmic entities. Their influence has left the Loam Lands warped, distorted and full of grotesque horrors that you, naturally, have to take down by journeying to the evil’s source.

And so off you pop on a journey through nine twisted biomes with delightful names such as the Dungeon of Forgotten Knowledge and the Forest of Lies. However, rather than just the levels that are procedurally generated, the enemies you fight are instead. This means you’ll be fighting potentially billions of kinds of beasts. All of which are brought to life by a clever machine-learning AI system. Blimey!

You’ll get to build your arsenal by using the blood of your slain enemies to make new spells. Of course, being a roguelite every time you die the world reshapes itself, and all your equipment is lost. So you’ll have to be careful to make sure you give yourself the best chance at survival. The game’s been tweaked continuously according to fan feedback during its early access period on PC since September, to ensure next month’s release will be rock solid.
