Sony expects to sell 24 million consoles before the end of the current financial year in March 2006. These are the projected sales figures that were in the financial statement Sony released today. This figure is split into 12 million sales for the PlayStation 2 and 12 million for the PSP.
The financial statement also revealed the company’s sales figures for the last quarter of the 2005 financial year. 6.1 million PlayStation 2s were shipped worldwide in-between January and March 2005 and 2.46 million PSPs were shipped in the same period. Those PSP figures include the million units that were allocated for the North American PSP launch. Sony also shipped 50 million units of PSone and PlayStation 2 software and 4.4 million PSP software units.
