Sony and PlayStation are officially reducing the price of the PS5, PS5 Pro and other associated items. After raising the price in April, the company is reducing the cost of its consoles slightly across Europe and the United States.
Just as renowned leaker Billbil-kun explained, PlayStation consoles, peripherals and bundles are seeing a not-insignificant price decrease for the Summer. However, this discount only applies from May 28 to June 11, not eliminating the blanket price increases across the board.
PlayStation Days of Play sales for PS5 gamers
First and foremost, the price of the PS5 Digital Edition console will now start at €399.99 in Europe, £339.99 in the UK and ¥65,980 in Aria for the Digital version during the promotional period. The PS5 Standard Edition will cost slightly more as expected.
The big ticket item for the Days of Play promotion is a Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Bundle. This bundle will come with a digital download code for the popular FPS game as well as either a PS5 or PS5 Digital Edition, starting at $399.99 for the cheaper console.
Additionally, Sony has decreased the price of the PSVR2 virtual reality headset, which now works on PC. The headset’s price has been decreased by $50 both on its lonesome or with an included code for Horizon: Call of the Mountain.
Finally, Sony is also decreasing the price of its controllers, the DualSense and DualSense Edge as well as the following games: Astro Bot, MLB: The Show, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered and Lego Horizon Adventures.
While neat, the discounts for the PlayStation hardware does not offset the increased cost for the console hardware across most of Europe. Unfortunately, the PS5 is still more expensive now than it was during its 2020 launch, and that’s a massive shame.
