Green Hill Zone Act 2 has been revealed in a new gameplay video for upcoming classic 2D platformer Sonic Mania.
Act 2 is an all-new area exclusive to Sonic Mania, expanding on the tropical setting of Act 1. The new area will see players using the new gameplay mechanic of fire to burn log bridges, whilst also sticking to the classic power-up and coin-collecting.
Green Hill Zone Act 2 will also feature a boss which is “notably different from the original,” but SEGA isn’t revealing details just yet.
SEGA also revealed the first in a series of new bosses it’s calling the Hard-Boiled Heavies. The heavies are part of Eggman’s new arsenal, each sporting special skills designed to challenge Sonic.
Heavy Gunner is the first of these new bosses, who will appear at the end of the Hollywood-inspired Studiopolis Act 1. Heavy Gunner is a large rocket launcher-equipped robot who can take to the sky with his helicopter.
Sonic Mania, from SEGA of America, Christian Whitehead, PagodaWest Games, and Headcannon, is scheduled to launch this spring for PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC.
