Someone proved that that unlocking each of The First Descendant’s most expensive in-game purchases is entirely possible without spending a dime, it’s just that it took them over 200 hours of grinding to do. “I’m all tapped out of sanity,” said the dedicated Descendant who – presumably – has not stepped outside in the last two weeks.
Not too long ago, we wrote about how The First Descendant is designed to make you want to pay rather than grind. Chicha112, the dedicated player who performed this excellent bit of gonzo research, is an excellent case study of whether or not that is the case. Although, the 200 hours spent unlocking everything should really say everything that’s needed.
The prices of in-game purchases in The First Descendant are pretty expensive. Having already compared The First Descendant’s pricing structure to Warframe’s and also finding out that it’s nearly 20 times more expensive, alongside the fact that the $5 skin paints are not reusable, only goes to show how ludicrous the pricing structure is of TFD’s microtransactions.
Someone commented on the original Reddit thread that “you’re gonna piss Nexon off with this one,” while the original poster went on to say that they hope that “Nexon makes it easier of a grind” in the future.
They also shared their advice to anyone else attempting a similar thing. “Build a strong foundation early. A good weapon and a decently built character lower farming time.”
“I didn’t start the ultimate grind until I progressed pretty far in the game! I think it’s important to have a good foundation of strong weapon and properly built descendant to make best use of your time. And yes I essentially grinded in hard mode reactors or colossi (preferred). Although if the colossi was obstructer, frost walker or molten fortress I usually tried to do reactors since those required some more teamwork”

It’s clear that working your way through from nothing to all Ultimate Descendants unlocked is no easy feat. If you choose to pay, you’re going to have to spend bucket-loads, and if you’re planning to grind instead, it’s going to cost you two whole weeks of your life.
I’m all for following your passions and that, but I think it’s fair to say ‘go touch some grass.’
