Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2, the follow-up to the critically mauled but commercially successful long-range FPS, will be released in Europe on March 16 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

Developed using Crytek's CryEngine3, fans (and those willing to give the series a second chance) are promised greater levels of detail in the game and a host of gameplay additions.

Players will now have access to weapons offering differing ranges, thermal vision and advanced spotter cooperation with comrades.

The first game sold 1.5 million copies worldwide, but City Interactive believes it can achieve upwards of two million copies sold for the sequel.
