EA has today announced that its entry into the skating genre will arrive in Europe on September 14 (two days after its US debut) – on the Xbox 360 at least. PlayStation 3 owners will have to wait a little longer, with the game landing in Europe on October 5 (September 24 in the US).

With SKATE EA is looking to take on the leading Tony Hawk franchise by launching ahead of the competition. Activision’s Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground isn’t due until later in the year. To whet the appetite of gamers, EA will release an Xbox LIVE Marketplace demo on August 15. The demo will include tutorials and challenges in San Vanelona’s community center skatepark, and will also let gamers sample the video capture and sharing feature.
